ELL staff use English language proficiency test scores to determine whether students, including ELLs with disabilities, will continue to receive ELL services. Students who have reached proficiency in all core language areas (i.e., listening, speaking, reading, and writing) are no longer eligible for ELL services. Students who have yet to reach proficiency in all areas are provided instruction targeted to a particular language area.
English language proficiency test scores may be interpreted at the individual level.
Still, it may also be useful to include other sources of information to determine whether students have met proficiency in core language areas.
